A Victory

For those who know Swedish, I recommend this article:

which is about homosexual animal species and the evolutionary reasons for that

Not surprisingly, the article was first published in this SWEDISH newspaper Dagens Nyheter. I guess it's easier to publish something so radical in a lutheran (or even an atheist) country.
Homosexuality has been described as 'unnatural' among its opponents. Now that this argument cannot apply anymore, I assume the church has to think of new ways promoting its view. To be fair, I think the church still can keep its view as it is - after all, if the bible is the word for them, they don't need any supportive arguments and can (and will always) lean on its word.

For those who don't know Swedish, here is a short summary of the article:

* Homosexuality is common among many animal species, including lion, zebra, dolphin, elephant (both African and Indian), wolf, flamingo and swan. Also parasites that live in mammal guts have been found having sex with the opposite gender.
* The evolutionary or Darwinist reason for homosexual behaviour was unknown for a long time. It's now been discovered that for the survival of a species, homosexual parents can actually be more beneficial than heterosexual.
* For instance, the survival rate of a new-born flamingo baby, raised by two male flamingos, was almost 10 times higher than of a new-born to male and female. The reason is simply that two males are stronger together and can attack the enemy with better success.

Mitt hus

A cool idea to be neighbours again - along the same (virtual) street. Ok, it's not like any corridor on campus, but reminds me of Sweden House. Thanks to Mads for the link.
UWC-fellows, draw your house here!

You're right, my socialist friend

Politicians are too busy to discuss the moral theories behind their party choice. That's why I can well say this post is not political but philosophical.

So there is left and there is right. There is red and there is white.
There are roses, there are crosses. Rebellious minds, evil bosses.

Came into town Friday night, too late for shopping. Found some noodles in the cupboard, thought to wait.
Came then Saturday, but soon realized: religious holiday, shops closed till Sunday. Had another portion of noodles.
Came then Sunday, had a walk. Hungry stomach, crying for food. Church bells singing, loud was the noon. Walked around to Lidl - CLOSED, back to downtown, over to the supermarkets - CLOSED. Thought "seems like I'm fasting!", then found a small store, bought some food, the clock was at 2.

Back at home, started thinking: "Whose election campaign was THIS promoting?"
No worker should work on Sunday, said the left - I knew. -A worker has the right to work, said the right - I knew.
Funny, I thought, the stand of parties. Didn't quite match all the ideologies.

If right is the conservative, I thought, why would they want to keep super markets open on Sunday? Shouln't it be the religious people who want the peace and sabbath on Sunday?
Why is the left against Sunday openings? Shouldn't that benefit the low-income students, as I knew on Sunday you get a double income?

Cultivated my thoughts, started getting more crazy. If right promotes individualistic freedom, why more negative towards gays and lesbians than the left? If left wants to promote freedom, then why the need to form unions?

Left and Right, like Day and Night. Logic lacks, Arguments flourish.
